Guest Speaker Series September 19, 2002 & November 12, 2002 & December 16, 2002
During the Fall of 2002 we added some special workshops to our schedule. In
addition to the regular workshops that I teach, I asked some talented
members of our community to share their skills and passions with us.
On Wednesday, September 19th Paula Saucier gave us an introduction to Feng
Shui. This workshop was held in the Central Village office. Paula
explained the concept of Feng Shui and the Chinese elements (fire, earth,
metal, water, air). We learned ways of arraigning our homes and offices to
create greater comfort, communication and prosperity. Paula gave us a list
of quick cures for Feng Shui problems. Each person went home inspired to
increase the well-being of their home through the ancient art of Feng Shui.
Our next guest speaker was Robin Beebe, who led a Crystal Healing workshop
in Niantic on November 12th. This was really a gem fest! Robin brought in
many samples of gems, crystals and minerals. She allowed us to touch each
one and feel its energy. We learned to identify the stones and how each
mineral made us feel. Robin described different ways of using crystals,
gems and minerals for healing and drawing positive energy.
Our final guest workshop was postponed due to icy weather conditions and
finally held on December 16th in Central Village. Coincidentally, it was a
Winter Survival Workshop with herbalist May Terry. May shared lore about
herbs that can be eaten or prepared in different ways to help cure winter
maladies. Using a crock pot, she showed us how to make calendula lip balm,
and gave us generous samples to take home.
I started giving low-cost workshops on topics related to healing in an
effort to bring people together for fellowship and the sharing of knowledge.
As our community grows, so grows our resources and knowledge. I'm looking
forward to creating more opportunities for learning, fellowship and
experience in 2003. A hearty thank-you to those who attended our workshops
in 2202, and to the talented teachers who gave their time and energy to help
us gain new information and insight!
