Tarot Circle Information

The idea for Tarot Circle came to me after the 2000 ATA Convention in Albany.  It was there that I met Wald Amberstone and RuthAnn Brauser from the Tarot School in New York City.  My methods for teaching tarot and building community had been formed from years of community organizing and teaching adult education.  Wald and RuthAnn offered me a completely different take on how we can teach tarot, learn tarot, and build a spiritual community around the tarot.  I thought about some of their ideas, added some of my own, and Tarot Circle was born.

Different from tarot classes and workshops, Tarot Circle would welcome all tarot enthusiasts.  We would share with, and learn from each other.

More than a year later, we are just beginning to see what Tarot Circle is, and what it is becoming.  Tarot Circle is an informal community centered around the tarot.  People of all levels of tarot experience are welcome to come whenever it fits into their schedule.

Tarot Circle is appropriate for the tarot novice, tarot hobbyist or professional tarot reader.  Tarot Circle meetings include discussion, lessons and exercises designed to teach tarot philosophy and reading techniques.  Each meeting stands alone as an informative workshop and lesson.

Circle members are encouraged to share their own life experiences and their experiences with the cards.  Tarot Circle then becomes not only a place for learning, but a place for healing, and building community.

Members participate in the tarot creatively, through tarot design, tarot writing, tarot poetry, tarot dance, storytelling, costume and collage.  Circle members are also encouraged to serve the community by offering their reading skills to the public.  Tarot Circle held two community events in 2001.  Money, toys and food were collected for the children of 9/ll and for our local emergency shelter.

Examination for certification with the Tarot Certification Board is available for those who want it.  Tarot Circle members are encouraged to seek certification and membership with the American Tarot Association.

Tarot Circle meets several times a month at various locations in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and South Florida.  Students should bring a pen, notebook and tarot deck.  A $10 donation is requested, but not required, to attend.
