On Wednesday, May 2nd, Tarot Circle met for a tarot ritual to celebrate
Beltane. It was the first tarot ritual that we have done together.
During the pre-ritual discussion, we discussed the role of tarot in
ritual. Tarot cards can be used as ritual tools, a focus for meditation,
to draw magickal energy and for divination within the Circle.
We called the Elements using the Four Aces, and the Lord and Lady using the
Sun and the Moon. The focal point of the ritual was a tarot dance, that
involved one circle moving within another circle as dancers pass cards back and
forth to each other. The outcome of the dance is a three card reading for
Beltane, answering questions about what fertility we will nurture in our lives,
what we will weave for ourselves. As we danced, we sang the "We are the Weavers"
chant.
- We are the weavers
- We are the web
- We are the bakers
- We are the bread
- We are the needle
- We are the thread
- We are the Witches
- Back from the dead
After the dance, we discussed the cards that we had been given. Two
folks brought oat cakes, so we blessed them and ate them and chatted within the
Circle prior to Clearing the Temple.
